Join us for our next Truckee Tahoe Airport Fly Safe WINGS Seminar at the TTSA Gliderport, held in conjunction with the Soaring Society of America's Region 11 Championship.

This special presentation features Mark Matticola, Assistant Director of Operations for Advanced Soaring with the 94th Flying Training Squadron at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Mark will share lessons from the world of glider flying—where energy management, situational awareness, and precision flying are essential—and explore what both glider and powered aircraft pilots can learn from silent flight operations.

From decision-making without an engine to maximizing efficiency in the air, this seminar offers valuable takeaways for pilots of all experience levels. Join us during an exciting week of soaring competition and discover techniques that translate directly into safer, more effective flying.

About the Speaker

Mark Matticola serves as the Assistant Director of Operations for Advanced Soaring at the U.S. Air Force Academy and is widely recognized as one of the nation's leading soaring instructors.

In his role with Advanced Soaring, Mark mentors cadets and officers in sailplane racing and aerobatics, helping develop the next generation of military aviators. Drawing from years of experience in high-performance glider operations, Mark brings valuable insights into energy management, precision flying, and decision-making that benefit pilots across every discipline of aviation.
