Snow Day

3.11.2025 12:31pm local (by: DVQ)

Looking at the forecasts and radar info we anticipate a possible airport closure tomorrow afternoon that may last until Thursday afternoon. Snow Day updates will be released throughout the storms.

Note: This information is a forecast and actual conditions may change. Our forecast should be used to indicate when trouble may be encountered in order to add extra caution to your flight planning. If we indicate a runway closure may be imminent and you wish to get out before the closure then call dispatch. Stay abreast of approved weather forecasting and reporting as well as NOTAMS

Runway Availability: This means one runway, a parallel taxiway, and reasonable access to a ramp. Full runway and taxiway access, services, and access to hangars will happen after a runway has been made available. Sometimes a day or more will be required to provide full access.

Snow Day Forecast for 07 March

-Remote chance of precipitation overnight, temperatures will be well below freezing in the morning. The 7th should hold clear skies and rising temperatures above freezing by mid to late morning.
-We will monitor runway conditions and issue FICONS as appropriate. Runways are clear as of the afternoon of the 6th.
-There is a slight chance that runways will be closed due to RCAM conditions of ice and other contaminants on the morning of the 7th. If there is an ice sheet at the beginning of the day we expect it to melt by mid to late morning.

Snow Day Forecast for 06 March

-Moderate chance of mixed precipitation during the early morning hours of the 6th with temperatures below freezing.
-We will monitor runway conditions and issue FICONS as appropriate.
-There is a moderate chance that runways will be closed due to RCAM conditions of ice and other contaminants on the morning of the 6th. If there is an ice sheet closure may continue until sufficient sun energy is available later in the day.

Snow Day Forecast for 05-06 March

-Moderate to likely chance of 1-3" of warm snow during the day on the 5th with temperatures above freezing. Temperature forecast to fall below freezing on the morning of the 6th with ongoing precipitation.
-We will monitor runway conditions and issue FICONS as appropriate. Brief snow removal may be required on the 5th depending on the type and quantity of precipitation. Snow removal more likely near the end of the day in order to get ahead of the impending freeze.
-Runways will likely remain open on the 5th with poor conditions if precipitation falls as snow or slush. There is a slight possibility that a closure may be needed sometime during the day on the 5th for snow removal operations. There is also a moderate possibility that on the morning of the 6th residual rain and melting snow could form into an ice sheet. An ice sheet on the 6th would likely create the conditions for an RCAM closure until sufficient sun energy is available later in the day.

Snow Day Forecast for 02-03 March

-Fair chance of mixed precipitation combined with above freezing temperature at the beginning of the day on the 2nd. Temperature forecast to fall below freezing on the morning of the 3rd.
-We will monitor runway conditions and issue FICONS as appropriate. Brief snow removal may be required on the 2nd depending on the type of precipitation. However, snow removal operations look unlikely.
-Runways will likely remain open on the 2nd with the possibility of poor conditions if precipitation falls as snow or slush. There is a slight possibility that a brief closure could be required sometime during the day on the 2nd. There is also a slight possibility that on the morning of the 3rd residual rain and melting snow could form into an ice sheet. It is unclear whether an ice sheet on the 3rd would create the conditions for a closure. We consider a closure on the 3rd to be a slight possibility that would likely end by ice melting away by late morning.
