AIRPORT CONTINUES GOING ELECTRIC
As one of the Airport District's Strategic Plan focus areas (adopted August 2023) the airport continues to demonstrate its commitment to climate-resilient practices and has purchased an electric Ground Power Unit (GPU).
The new ITW GPU Model 7400 will replace an older diesel fueled unit. A GPU provides power to an aircraft while parked on the ramp to run Avionics, lighting and HVAC systems, and can be used for engine starts.
The Airport District's other climate friendly equipment and vehicles include all-electric: ramp golf carts, aircraft tugs, a Transit van, an F150 Lightning, and a passenger vehicle.
