A California Highway Patrol helicopter flight crew and Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue recently held a training session in Blackwood Canyon (a mountainous region west of Lake Tahoe). They practiced back country rescue extrications, helicopter safety and hoisting techniques. Your Truckee Tahoe Airport District funded TNSAR's Pisten Bully PB100 snowcat, which can carry up to 10 persons and its truck hauler in early 2019. The snowcat was sponsored by TTAD as a community benefit, and could be used to access a downed aircraft during winter months in the back country.
