Proposed Changes to Aviation Minimum Standards

Early in 2022 the Truckee Tahoe Airport District Board of Directors, with support and direction from Staff, made modifications to the Aeronautical Minimum Standards (Standards) associated with Independent Flight Instruction, Aircraft Rental, and Flight Schools.

These Standards are the prescriptive guidance for any party engaged in the commercial activity of offering flight instruction, rental, or flight school activity. The substantive changes include the following primary modifications to the Standard:

  • The addition of a CFI Owned Aircraft section, (8.2) outlining the privileges of operation for parties who own a training aircraft, have a hangar at KTRK, and want to provide flight instruction. (pgs 27-28)
  • Changes to the Aircraft Rental section (5 Equipment). (pg 20)
  • Addition of Section (8 Limitations) (pgs 27-28)
  • The addition of an annual fee in the amount of $1,000 for any party conducting Independent Flight Instruction and an annual fee of $2,500 for any party conducting CFI Owned Aircraft Instruction.

The Board of Directors will receive a presentation on July 27th summarizing the feedback and comments from the aeronautical and airfield user community. A copy of the updated Standards if adopted will be posted at that time. We welcome your comments on this policy change. The changes to the Truckee Tahoe Airport Master Fee Schedule reflecting the additional fees will be effective August 1, 2022 if adopted as proposed. Please send any comments regarding these Standards modifications to:
