NEW ATIS AT KTRK

Upgrades are underway at KTRK. The Truckee Tahoe Airport District has performed Supplemental Aviation Weather Reporting Station duties for several decades, providing daily high and low temperature measurements, precipitation and snowfall totals, and hourly weather reports used for flight planning as well as aviation and general weather forecasting.
Weather-certified air traffic control staff (Tower ATC) affords the airport an opportunity to improve weather and airfield-condition information via an ATIS, Automatic Terminal Information Service.
Beginning at 07:00 Tuesday, January 3, 2023, ATC personnel will observe, report, and manage the data, which is expected to enhance overall safety and streamline communication of pertinent airfield information to airfield users. **Pilots should expect an ATIS recording when tuning into 118.0 and will be prompted to give ATC the current information code to ensure they have the most up-to-date information.
