At approximately 3:40 PM on Thursday 11.30.2017 an R22 light helicopter, registration # N47WH crashed at the east end of the airport with two commercially rated pilots on board. The pilots were transported via medevac helicopters (CareFlight & Reach) to hospitals in Reno. Both pilots are currently in ICU and in stable condition. It appears they were flight training at the time of the incident.
The cause of the crash is unknown and the FAA and the NTSB are currently on site working through the investigation process. Once released the wreckage will be stored onsite on behalf of the FAA.
Runway 11-29 was closed between 3:45 pm and 5:45 pm.
Runway 02-20 remained open and active.
