The Truckee Tahoe Airport District Board of Directors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023. The meeting will be in a hybrid format.  The public is invited to join and participate, either in-person or online. Airport Improvement magazine article: Truckee Tahoe Airport (TRK) in California recently made a bold environmental move by changing from standard Jet A to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The general aviation airport started offering SAF several years ago, with a goal of gradually increasing the percentage sold to 100% by the end of 2023. With the reopening of Runway 2/20 we kindly remind our aviation community that the easiest way to reduce your impact on our Truckee neighborhoods (winds permitting) is by departing Runway 2. The noise abatement procedure off Runway 2, known as the Scales Departure is a straight out departure until abeam the Sewage Treatment plant then a left turn to the Truck Scales on Interstate 80. KTRK's crosswind runway Runway 2/20 reopened on November 16, 2023 after 17 weeks of reconstruction.  The $7M project (same footprint at 4,650' x 75') was sponsored by FAA Airport Improvement Program "AIP", CA Division of Aeronautics and Truckee Tahoe Airport District funding. Local pilot Mike Daniel with his Carbon Cub aircraft was the first to take off and land on the reopened runway. Brandley Engineering was the engineering firm on the project, and Mercer-Fraser was the General Contractor. Click post heading for more info including pics and a video.
